Coming soon!
The Arc Game Engine is a robust 2D game engine made with Allegro. While it is currently in development, it will eventually be released free and open source. I have no timeline at this point, but hope to have it into testing ASAP. More news to come.
Thanks for giving us a game engine aside the tutorials. You truly help me in game developing
I’m curious as to the features of Arc game engine
I started developing for my students, but I have been green lighted to develop it as my Master’s Thesis. Therefore, it is going to take longer to implement, but here are some features:
-particle system
-sprite / entity manager (with built in collision detection)
-physics
-backgrounds (to include scrolling and parallax)
-input and audio manager
-Multiplayer (potentially)
-Some more features I am forgetting.
Wonderful. Hoping to see it’s release. Also, here’s a suggestion for more features: a configuration manager would be nice

I don’t think there is a conflict of names here, but I’m just pointing out.
Oh, whoops. I will need to keep that in mind going forward
That looks great! Can’t wait to try it as soon as it’s out!
Mike, thank you very much for the resources you have contributed to the online community. I have started to watch your tutorials and have found them very helpful. I am looking to recommend your series to anyone interested in game programming in C++, since this is a helpful site that deserves views. It is not the first thing that appears when a person casually Googles Allegro tutorials, but frankly it really should be. Clear explanations from the bottom up for beginners.
Thanks. Glad you like. If you know anyone who is good at search engine optimization, send them my way.
Keep em coming Mike, and do post about your tuts on other sites or atleast add tags regarding Allegro, Allegro5 in your website more and more possible! I got lucky, to find your tutorial, but it took me ages to get lucky.
I had searched over google, “Setting up Allegro 5″ and boom!
Anyways Great work! +1 to your Fan Count!
I am trying to get myself out there more. Unfortunately, I am not very good at SEO
I’ll be glad to hep, if i could in any way for SEO for your site. Got my website to a PR of 2 and under a lac at Alexa by simply using simple SEO techniques!
Actually, there’s a link for this site in the allegro wiki!

Very cool.
Wow, looking forward to this… and future tutorials as well!
When Engine will be done?
Any more information on the engine? I’m interested to know how far it is from completion, its features currently available, its accessability, and anything else that we should know!
Thanks
It seems days get shorter all the time. Work is slow and my original goals are far off. Sorry about that.
That’s ok, no big deal to me. After all, the engine would probably not be practical considering how awesome the tutorials are. It would be wasteful creating an engine, when there isn’t very much to simplify.
Good luck with the next series!
Your tutorials were awesome, and I can’t wait to see the release of this game engine! My hats off to you, sir.
If you are having trouble, couldn’t you make it some sort of community project? I’m sure the other ‘students’ will be interested in helping you out.
hello! what about adding a gallery to your page where people could upload their allegro results?? =P
